EMMy exhibition I Reiff Foyer I 20.-21.10.
The exhibition Building Products in Circulation, which was planned for last year and had to be postponed due to the pandemic, will take place this autumn in the foyer of the Reiff Museum. Visiting the exhibition is subject to the 3G regulation.
EMMy (Ecological Material Mini library) is a collection of materials and building products of the Institute, which have been selected and identified on the basis of their ecological criteria. The aim of the event is to provide information on the properties of building products and their respective environmental impacts in order to enable students and planners to make informed decisions.
The accompanying conference papers and videos, which were produced in December 2020, will be broadcast on site. Speakers will talk about building products in the cycle, realised examples of cycle-friendly buildings and their materials as well as future product development potential and criteria of material platforms.

Annual exhibition 2021
Faculty of Architecture
Due to the ongoing Corona pandemic, the JAA is appearing in a new format this year: the exhibition is spread throughout Aachen's urban space this year, with the main exhibition venue in the Stadtsaal. Both teaching work and students' everyday lives have changed fundamentally in the wake of the pandemic. Like all areas of life, architecture is also undergoing a change towards greater digitalisation and new challenges are arising. With this year's theme of perspective, we make use of the ambiguity of the term by reflecting on diverse spatial perspectives, points of view and future prospects in the architecture faculty at RWTH Aachen University. The exhibition will open on 6.10.2021 at 17:00 in the Stadtsaal.

Online PowerSKIN Conference 2021 - Simplicity vs. Performance?
The biennial PowerSKIN conference addresses the gap between science and practice and between the different disciplines of architects, engineers and scientists.
The conference addresses the role of the building envelope in achieving a carbon-neutral building stock. The focus of the 2021 edition, "Simplicity vs. Performance?", addressed the question of whether simplicity and robustness are at odds with good building envelope performance or whether they are even complementary.
The contributions presented current scientific research results and developments as well as projects on the topic of building envelopes from the perspectives of materials, technology and design. The contribution of Recycled Building focuses on the digital design fabrication of earthen projects and presents the state of research on this topic. The related technical article was written with TU Berlin, TU Braunschweig and TU Darmstadt and is published in the Facades Journal of TU Delft.
The conference was very inspiring and contained stimulating impulses. We are already looking forward to the 4th edition in 2023!

Exhibition "Resource transition - Architecture in process"
//The exhibition will take place until 26.04.21//
The symposium is accessable online.
WandelWerk Cologne is showing the exhibition Baustelle Ressourcenwende - Architektur im Wandel from Friday, April 2, to Sunday, April 18. It deals with the future of architectural planning, materiality, building methods and construction. Four partners are jointly organizing the exhibition: the Rhineland funding project "Regional Resource Turnaround in the Building Industry" (ReBAU), the Institute of Reuse in Architecture at RWTH Aachen University, WandelWerk Cologne and designer Claudia Saar (Die Servicekomplizin). Thanks to the venue's large, covered glass façade, anyone interested can view the exhibition from the outside in pandemic fashion. QR codes guide visitors to the exhibits' digital twins. RB is displaying exhibits from the Ecological material mini library EMMy, which features a scientific assessment on the one hand and manageable categories on the other of building products.
The highlight of the exhibition will be the panel discussion organized by ReBAU on Tuesday, April 13, from 6 to 8 pm. At this, Annabelle von Reuten (Concular), Marc Matzken, (Heimspielarchitekten), Jasmin Werker (Landmarken AG), Klaus Dosch (faktor X agentur) and Linda Hildebrand (Institut für Rezykliergerechtes Bauen der RWTH Aachen) will discuss the change in architecture towards a resource-saving future. A short digital exhibition tour and positions of the Architects for Future will introduce the event. Thomas Knüvener (archiekturlandschaft) will moderate the panel. The event can be experienced as a live stream and is accessible to all interested parties free of charge.

Conference contribution at 'Crossing Boundaries'
The conference "CROSSING BOUNDARIES, Towards a circular, sustainable and vital built environment" aims to create a platform where knowledge on the topic of 'circular and energy efficient building' can be exchanged on a scientific level to investigate the environmental and economic impact and share experiences on the latest developments in circular building.
The Parkstad region in the south of the Netherlands is facing a steady population decline and therefore has a large housing surplus, making it an interesting test area for the practice of circular building.
In keeping with these developments, the goal of this conference is to take the next step in enabling the circular economy in the built environment. The goal is to hold a scientific conference on circular economy in the built environment. The conference will result in the publication of a selection of the best papers and aims to provide guidance for a circular built environment.
The conference is a collaboration between Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, IBA Parkstad and the City Region of Parkstad organization.
Kim Tran presents a scientific paper from the institute.
The recordings of the conference sessions can be found online.

Keynote speech CRAVEzero
23 June 2020 (online workshop)
Alina Kretschmer will give the keynote speech at the end of the CRAVEzero funding project, in which the results on climate-friendly and cost-optimised almost zero-energy buildings will be presented in a practical way for municipal representatives. The lecture "circular and resource-efficient building" will provide impulses for a paradigm shift in the construction sector.
The research project CRAVEzero deals with the challenge of minimum energy consumption and cost optimisation of buildings on a municipal level. The knowledge gained is intended to support municipalities in creating affordable housing with the lowest possible energy consumption. The participants will gain insight into which measures can influence resource consumption in the individual planning and construction phases and how municipalities can keep cost control. In addition, the topics of energy efficiency in neighbourhood planning and the design of flexible living are involved.

Kick off event
Resource-efficient and recyclable construction in the Rhenish mining district
Postponed on the 22.06.2020 in Düren
As part of the launch event of ReNeReb and ReBau, we invite you to play an active role in shaping the future development of the Rhenish mining area with a focus on the construction industry.
The two projects bring together partners for resource efficiency and recycling-friendly construction in the region. One project goal is the initiation of a competence centre (within the framework of ReBau) in which various activities come together, such as the creation of databases (within the framework of ReNeReb). In this way, measures that have already been implemented and that make sense will become more visible and future steps will be further developed in the right direction. Together with you, the Rhenish mining district will thus become a nationwide pilot region for the resource turnaround in construction.
Harry Lehmann (UBA) will provide an impulse on the relevance of resource conservation and closed-loop construction as an integral part of any climate protection strategy and will rank various activities according to their urgency.
The event is aimed at political representatives, construction professionals, and interested parties.
The event is free of charge. Please send a registration form to email@example.com
by 1 March 2020 is required.

Further information and the programme of the event.
*** Zirkuläre Wertschöpfung im Bauwesen ***
The consumption of resources in building construction represents a weak point in sustainable construction. Possible solutions: Serial construction or improved controlling, with which architects, planners, authorities, building owners and operators can evaluate and optimise the use of materials throughout the entire life cycle.
Recycling management in construction: Is this an illusion or a pragmatic possibility for more sustainability in commercial and public construction?
Linda Hildebrand will talk about this aspects within the event "Sustainable and intelligent buildings", organized by the Competence Network Environmental Economy NRW (KNUW) on the 6th of December 2018
Location: IHK Dortmund, Märkische Straße 120, 44141 Dortmund, Germany
PLEASE REGISTER BY 30 NOVEMBER 2018 via www.knuw.nrw or by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
The programme of the event
