PowerSKIN Conference

The Technical University of Munich, Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Thomas Auer, the TU Darmstadt, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Schneider and the TU Delft, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Knaack, are hosting the PowerSKIN conference this year with local hosts RWTH Aachen University, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Linda Hildebrand and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Daniele Santucci. This is the fourth event in a biennial series. Architects, engineers and scientists will present their latest developments and research projects for public discussion and reflection. The conference will take place in person and be accessible virtually.

M1 House for circularity - SoSe22

Research Related Course Building with Paper - SuSe22

This summer semester, we are offering the research related course Building with Paper 1:1. In the framework of the project, students are invited to develop their own paper solutions and to implement these as prototypes. Accompanying the design task, there will be impulse lectures by the project partners of the DBU research project "A temporary paper house - feasibility study of an integral paper building project with a focus on constructive, spatial-climatic and ecological properties".

ReBau: Call for innovation

The conference "CROSSING BOUNDARIES, Towards a circular, sustainable and vital built environment" aims to create a platform to share knowledge on the topic of 'circular and energy-efficient building' on a scientific level. The conference is a collaboration between Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, IBA Parkstad and the City Region of Parkstad organization.

A live streamed video informs about the production and product development potential of materials suitable for recycling and reuse as well as examples of applications and difficulties in recycling processes. Afterwards, a ZOOM meeting offers the opportunity for exchange and discussion. Master student wins 1st place at the Bülau competition in Hamburg

Ina Weiler wins 1st prize in the 7th Bülau Competition 2019/20: Urban Spatial Perspectives for Rödingsmarkt, Herrlichkeit and Alsterfleet in Hamburg.
With her master's thesis "From Parking Garage to House Park" she implements goals of the "Circular Economy". The jury particularly emphasized that the design follows the principle of maximum preservation of substance in the sense of resource conservation.

Publication of the VDI "Deconstruction in Building Construction" has been published

The current report of the VDI Center for Resource Efficiency "Deconstruction in Building Construction - Current Practices and Potentials of Resource Conservation", has been published. We contributed to the publication with the research project of HEEMwonen"Superlocal" in Kerkrade, which was accompanied by us. Here, 500 housing units from the 1960s were demolished and reused for new housing units.

Stegreif Cycle House - SoSe 19

For the Summer Semester 2019 we are offering the Stegreif 'CycleHouse'. In the design task, aspects of changeability and reusability are to be taken up and implemented in a building with flexible use. In the first life cycle the CycleHouse serves as an office building with 12 co-working spaces.

Visiting students from Uruguay

On the 21 st of August 2018 Reuse in Architecture invited students from the Faculty of Architecture/Universidad de la República from Uruguay on their European excursion to visit our Faculty. After giving a tour through the Reiff Museum, Linda Hildebrand informed about the activities of the Chair.
