Stegreif Circular products in building practise
Background
The physical model is often indispensable for teaching a design in architectural studies. In the process of building the models, both the institutes and the students often have materials left over that could be put to good use. Up to now, most of the materials are disposed of at the end of the semester - but if there were a central place where materials are stored, model building materials could be kept in circulation and costs could be saved for the students. To counteract this problem, a materials storage facility is to be created in the otherwise seldom-used basement foyer of the Reiff.
Task
As part of the impromptu project, we want to collect design proposals during the summer semester. Mobile furniture is to be considered, which can be pushed into the room during material flea markets, for example. A concept of use with rules of use is to be sketched for the design. Which cardboard dimensions are so small that they should not be stored? Are there regular appointments for cleaning up and mucking out together?How can furniture be prevented from being stolen or pushed into work spaces? Where is what stored?
To keep the materials storage sorted, different compartment formats or storage solutions should be planned for small-particle materials (model danglers, trees, toothpicks) and leftover materials. Due to the load capacity of the rollers, each cabinet should not weigh more than 200kg in total. It may be necessary to use a 3mm thick load-balancing plate in the passageways. The dimensions of the passages in the basement are 85x180x60cm (WxHxD). They mark the maximum external dimension of the furniture. The depth may be varied, but care should be taken that the furniture still fits into the elevator (140x200x140cm WxHxD). The heaters may not be adjusted. The furniture should be made of wood. There is a possibility to use unused metal plates 75x3x29,8cm (WxHxD) in the basement foyer.
